What an awesome Festival

It’s all over for another year but what a day it was! The weather held, the teams were pumped and had a great time, and an incredible 94% of our goal, or a little more than $168,000, had been reached as of 4 pm Saturday (with donations still coming in, we’ve now passed $170,000!) What you need to know for Festival

Here’s what you need to know for this Saturday’s 16th annual Peterborough’s Dragon Boat Festival, including schedule of events, parking/shuttle info, food, weather, 50/50, and more. We can’t wait to see you there!

SPONSOR A PADDLER OR TEAM: It’s not to late to make a donation in support of a paddler, team or to the event in general! Your donation will help SAVE LIVES by keeping breast cancer screening state-of-the-art at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Proceeds of the 2016 Festival will help fund a new, state-of-the-art mammography machine for the Breast Assessment Centre – one of three that must be purchased. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Races start at 9 a.m. and go all day.

8:30 a.m. – Awakening the Dragon

9:00 a.m. – Morning races begin

11:00 a.m. – Dragon Procession

12:00 p.m. – Opening Ceremonies/Flower Ceremony

1:00 p.m. – Afternoon races begin

3:40 p.m. – Cup Races & Regatta Championship begin

PARKING / Free SHUTTLE buses: Parking is limited at Del Crary Park, but there’re plenty of spots in nearby in public parking lots. Park at the Evinrude Centre and take our shuttle service! Free shuttle buses run every 20 minutes all day (7:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.), courtesy of our sponsor Coach Canada. Shuttles start at the Evinrude Centre (south side) and the Simcoe City Bus Depot on Simcoe St. with stops at the King St., Louis St. and Dalhousie St. parking lots.

FOOD & DRINK: Visit the Tim Hortons mobile coffee truck and check out the great meal deals at the Peterborough Lions Club trailer including hamburgers, sausages, and hot dogs!

WATER: Just a reminder that bottled water is not sold at Festival. Don’t forget to bring your reusable water bottle and fill up at one of our complimentary water stations!

WEATHER: The Festival takes place rain or shine so we recommend participants and guests dress accordingly. Weather forecast.

50/50: NEW this year – don’t miss out on the 50/50 draw. Tickets will be $2 each, 3 for $5, or 7 for $10. If you don’t see someone selling them through the crowd then visit the information booth to get yours (maximum prize $2000). Draw is around 12 noon.

SHOPPING: NEW THIS YEAR! Debit and Credit payments will be accepted at our One Stop Dragon Shop – sponsored by Mark’s! Available items include golf polos, water bottles, tote bags, umbrellas, safety whistles, Nike ball caps, t-shirts and more.

Festival FREE Shuttle Bus

FREE shuttle buses run all day at the courtesy of bronze sponsor, Coach Canada, from the Evinrude Centre and the Simcoe City Bus Depot on Simcoe St.

Stops are at the King St, Louis St. and Dalhousie St. parking lots.

The buses run every 20 minutes and the last bus leaves the festival for the Evinrude Centre at 4:15 p.m.

The first bus leaves Evinrude at 7:30 a.m.
